How ironic! Voter Fraud billboards pulled during Free Speech Week

"VOTER FRAUD IS A FELONY! Up to 3 1/2 YRS & $10,000 Fine" billboards sprang up in various cities in southeast Wisconsin. I spotted this one on Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee almost 2 weeks ago.

I was happy this message was going out especially after hearing that some Obama's Organizing for America DNC workers were not discouraging contacts from voting in multiple states. (Video and details below)

Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had a page 1 article, above the fold, in the Local section: 3 dropped as voter registration workers after felonies flagged. Those 3 workers included "one man convicted of multiple counts of forgery".

When I awoke Monday morning, I heard Jay Weber say Clear Chanel Outdoor was pulling the info ads off their billboards. A few minutes later a very upbeat radio ad informed that this is National Free Speech Week Oct 22 -29.

Hmm. It's Free Speech week, but an info ad warning that Voter Fraud is a Felony must come down? That doesn't sound very free speech-y to me.


Also on Monday, Dan Rather implied that the GOP will steal the Ohio election--a voter fraud accusation against Republicans--but a billboard company cannot put up a warning of the consequences of fraudulent voting, without including a political disclaimer!

And why? Because the billboards were deemed to be partisan in message and would suppress the vote!  These billboards went up in other areas of Wisconsin, such as Washington County, and in other battleground states.

It seems, almost daily we learn about more voter fraud and voter registration irregularities, such as North Carolina registers over 583 Democrat votes over the age of 112.

Voter Fraud is real and it is a serious crime. You really can't make this stuff up!

P.S. Talk show host Mark Belling also was following this development. He said Clear Chanel Outdoor indicated if someone wanted to put up a Voter Fraud is a Felony billboard WITH a named disclaimer, it seemed the billboard company would post it.
The woman, an undercover reporter from Project Veritas, captured her encounter with one Obama campaign DNC Director (worker) on video in Texas.  The Reporter tells the Obama DNC worker that she "got her voter registration card for Florida..."  The Obama worker replied, "Keep it! Keep it! So you're gonna vote - uhm yea vote by ballot?"  Reporter: "I'm gonna vote by ballot and then I have mine here (Texas) too."

The Reporter goes on to voice her concerns that they have to everything they can to ensure an Obama victory. The Obama worker replies, "So you meant that -- Okay, so you have to make sure because after sixty days you can send in your application to vote by mail ballot."  Reporter, "Okay." Obama worker, "So I can print that out for you." Reporter, "Okay." The Obama worker then goes on to give instruction on how to submit the 2nd, fraudulent ballot.

The Reporter then verifies that the Obama worker understood this would be illegal. Reporter, "And there's no way they'd be able to cross reference the ballots?" Obama worker, "If you voted twice?" Reporter, "Yeah."...Obama worker, "I don't know this. That's not my expertise." Reporter, "Okay." Obama worker, "I would just do Florida because in Texas it really doesn't...(trails off)." Some more chit-chat and a giggle.

The Reporter returned a few weeks later and received an absentee ballot from the same Obama DNC Director, to help her vote twice. The Obama DNC Director instructed the Reporter that if anyone checks, she should say, "I don't know." There is more chatter about the logistics of voting twice and if no one is going to know...giggles...

Marquette poll: Walker up 7%, but what about voter fraud?

One would have to be living under a rock to not know the eyes of the nation are upon Wisconsin's Walker recall election on June 5th. It's not often the Weekly Standard covers our elections in such detail: Tom Barrett Fires Blanks at Scott Walker... and Barrett Can't Name Any Schools Hurt by Walker....

Emotions are running high with campaign ads bombarding the airwaves, the mailbox stuffed with politician post cards, and political phone calls (live and robo) taunting us from morning to night. Everyone in Wisconsin who votes needs to vote for 2 separate races: Governor AND Lt. Governor. For me that would be Scott Walker and Rebecca Kleefisch. In areas where there is also a State Senate recall, they will need to vote for State Senator too. Without our Republican Senators holding their seats, Wisconsin can forget any major legislation passing. (Margins are already razor thin--remember the jobs creating mining bill defeat?)

One thing is for certain--I think we will all breathe a sigh of relief when this is over. I hope I will be smiling when the results are in. 

But turnout is key to a Walker win. Though the latest Marquette University Law School poll shows Walker at 52% to Barrett's 45%, with a margin of error of +/- 4.1% points, I am very concerned about the percentage of fraudulent votes cast for Barrett. So we have to outvote the fraud. If you want to help get out the vote in support of the Governor, the GOP Victory Centers are still looking for people to man the phones from 9am - 9pm to make calls from now through Tuesday.

Now if we had our Voter ID law in place, I would be breathing a little easier right now. But with reports of the huge numbers of early voting going on by the busload in Madison and Milwaukee, including Memorial Day, I am uneasy. They usually say Republicans need to outvote Democrats by about 2% to counter voter fraud. In this recall election, I think that percentage will be much higher. Let's face it, without a photo ID, casting a vote at a City Hall--as someone other than yourself--is much easier than at the poll on election day, where poll workers are often familiar with the voters in their wards.

Interestingly, one of the questions from the Marquette poll was about Voter ID, "Sixty-one percent favored requiring a government-issued photo id to vote, while 37 percent opposed that."

One portion of the poll leaves me wondering, who are these people?, because in an unrelated question, Obama gained ground: "The presidential vote among likely voters moved to 51 percent for Obama and 43 percent for Romney. In the May 9-12 poll, the race was tied 46-46 percent. "

On the jobs front, the facts are in: Wisconsin gained jobs under Scott Walker. And if Walker is reelected, more hiring should follow. In a quarterly survey conducted by Nicolet Bank Business Pulse of CEOs and business leaders in northern Wisconsin during the week of May 10th - 17th, 91% of those CEOs viewed a Walker win positively, reflected by comments such as "Wisconsin's business climate will improve" and "Businesses will hire more people and invest in their business"  vs. 93% negative view of a Barrett win with themes that included "Business climate will worsen, few businesses will come to Wisconsin and some will leave", and "Business will hold tight on any aggressive growth of their business."

Locally, while at the Target/Trader Joe's Underwood Crossing Dedication ceremony last Thursday, I asked a Ryan Corp. worker about the Jr. Anchor store that would be east of the Target store. Last I heard, it was to be a home-oriented store and was hoping they were ready to announce the store name. But instead, I learned that they backed out, as did one of the smaller retailers in the multi-store building between Trader Joe's and PNC Bank.

I mentioned the uncertainty over our recall election might have influenced these 2 retailers to pull out--that until businesses know which direction Wisconsin is going in, they don't feel they can make a commitment? Would our state turn from our current more business friendly state to a higher tax, more regulation and a return of combined reporting state. The man from Ryan didn't disagree.

Lastly, the Wisconsin Faith & Freedom Coalition mailed out a campaign Voter Guide that included 6  campaign issues not mentioned much in the press: 1. Abortion on Demand, 2. Taxpayer-funded Abortion, 3. Same-sex Marriage, and 4. New Taxes on Wisconsin Families, all of which Walker OPPOSES and Barrett SUPPORTS and 5. Parental Choice in Education, and 6. Eliminating the Death Tax, which Walker SUPPORTS and Barrett OPPOSES.

And speaking of faith, I know Christians* have been praying for our legislators, during these trying times and for this recall election. The Governor himself has asked for prayer, "pray for me--pray for my family and particularly for the next four weeks". So I am. I'm praying for God's protection for all the candidates, for justice--for right to prevail, and I'm pleading for mercy for our state and nation... according to God's will.

*Christians are directed in the New Testament of the Bible to respect and honor government representatives and authorities in Romans 13: 1-7 and to pray for them in 1 Timothy 2: 1-8. I am not familiar with the teachings of other religions on this topic.

Catching up: Voter ID, Kooyenga Town Hall & Elmbrook

At long last, Wisconsin's Voter ID bill passed the Senate yesterday and now awaits Gov. Walker's signature. Hallelujah. No doubt it will end up in court, but Sen. Alberta Darling mentioned yesterday on Jay Weber that though she preferred passing 2 separate bills, at least the bill is severable. (The Voter ID portion, which has been upheld by the courts, can be separated from the more controversial portions of the bill.)

Voter ID will be in place for the 2012 elections. I wonder what those elections will look like with Voter ID in place and the end of mandatory Union membership for State workers. (Unions fund Democrat candidate advertising with their dues.) Though the Budget Repair Bill is stuck in the doldrums of the Madison court, the Republicans could just incorporate it into the overall Budget bill.

By the way, Voter ID does not eliminate same day registration, but that turned out to be the better avenue. If we had eliminated same day registration, we then would need to implement MotorVoter laws, which ties obtaining a drivers license with registering to vote. I don't think registering to vote should be such an autopilot arrangement. My understanding of same day registration is that it still requires an approved photo ID. If the person doesn't have this, then they cast a provisional ballot (sealed in an envelope) and are given an opportunity to bring back their photo ID for their vote to count.

I didn't know what to expect. Would protesters be there? Would the room be packed as Town Halls had been before the November elections? As it turned out, there were 6 of us there--8 in all if you count Dale and his assistant William Neville. The 6 citizens in attendance consisted of 3 men I didn't know and Elmbrook Schools Superintendent Dr. Matt Gibson, Elmbrook Board President Tom Gehl, and little ole me.

The discussion was informal, with Kooyenga sitting with us in a circle of sorts. One man was talking about the concealed carry legislation when I cam in. Kooyenga briefly talked about the Combined Reporting changes, some which are addressed in the budget bill. Dale said rather than repeal the whole law, they would be looking at lowering the corporate tax rate.

Incidentally, did you know there is now a CPA Caucus? Kooyenga and his fellow CPAs now have their own group. He said they are working on a constitutional amendment to require a balanced state budget, applying business accounting principles to the state.

Dr. Gibson stated his support for the Governor's budget and appreciation for Kooyenga meeting with them regarding the coming budget changes. However, Gibson was looking to influence the per student dollar allocation. He mentioned working with the Fair Aid Coalition that represents property rich districts like Elmbrook (donor districts), who contribute to other school districts through their property taxes. Gibson said he was looking at increasing taxing authority as a possible solution to Elmbrook's shortfall.

It does seem like there might be some wiggle room in the state aid formula, "Some Republican legislative leaders say that they are working on a plan to lessen aid cuts for some Wisconsin schools. The legislature’s budget committee will take up the issue Thursday." I don't know if Elmbrook is included in that group, but it shows there could be some adjustments coming.

Petitioning Waukesha School District subdivisions can't join Elmbrook School District
Don't know if you saw this, but those 3 subdivisions to Elmbrook's west lost again at the state level in their quest to be included in the Elmbrook School District. I blogged about this in February of 2011 in What? Families who HAVE 4K petition to join Elmbrook WITHOUT 4K?

BrookfieldNOW reported in Neighborhoods lose bid to join Elmbrook, again that "The state's School Boundary Appeals Board last week denied the request of nearly 200 property owners in the Black Forest, Summit Lawn, Emerald Ridge and Shire subdivisions to leave the Waukesha School District and join Elmbrook.

The board voted, 3-0, to deny the Shire, Summit Lawn and Black Forest petition, and the Emerald Ridge request was voted down, 2-1."

I think the bottom line is that regardless of where the boundary is, there will always be someone living across the street who isn't in the same school district as their playmate in the district. That really isn't a valid argument for annexation. It isn't the state's place to take money out of one school district by allowing those homes to attend another school district. The decision of which school district your children will attend should be made at the time you purchase your home, not after the fact!

Call Wisconsin Legistature to move on Photo Voter I.D.

Last week, State Senator Joe Leibham and Rep. Jeff Stone introduced a Photo Voter I.D. bill, a measure that most Wisconsinites agree is long overdue. It would be great to have this in place for the spring election, when we select a new justice for the State Supreme Court. But to do that, the bill needs to be scheduled for joint hearings a.s.a.p. That's where your phone call comes in--contact numbers below.

While I am pleased to see Photo Voter I.D.'s introduction, I think we could do much more to protect the integrity of Wisconsin elections from voter fraud. But at this point, all the bill deals with is the requirement that voters present an approved photo I.D. when they go vote. At present, it does nothing to stop same day voter registration or allowing a 3rd party, such as ACORN, to conduct voter registration drives.

Considering the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly both have Republican majorities, can we please clean up these other two potential voter fraud provisions too?

Those critical of the Photo Voter I.D. requirement say that requiring a Driver's License or State Photo I.D. would discourage voting if the person didn't have an approved I.D. This is a stretch, since most people over 18 years of age drive have a driver's license. In the odd case where an 18 year old doesn't have a drivers license (as was the case with my own offspring) a State I.D. was obtained. The bill has a provision to provide the appropriate I.D. for those who cannot afford one.

Last November, I volunteered to be a poll watcher with We're Watching Wisconsin Elections and was assigned to 2 different inner city polling places. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the majority of voters during my 2 shifts voluntarily showed their photo I.D.s to the poll workers checking them in. Though the driver's license was not asked for, the voter usually started getting it out of their wallet as they approached the table. Sadly, some other voters needed someone to vouch for them as for their change in address.

Since I voted absentee that election, I did wonder if there would be some designation on the voter roll at my own polling place. I checked later in the day and thankfully, there was a notation next to my name. But not all City Clerks are as efficient as our Kris Schmidt! This is an area where fraudulent votes could be cast that Photo Voter I.D. would eliminate.

We need to get this legislation moving through the Assembly and Senate pronto. If it is to be in place by April's election, it must be passed and signed into law by February 15th, according to W.W.W.E.

Call your State Representative and Senator:

1. Ask them to co-sponsor the Photo I.D. Bill
2. Urge leadership to schedule joint hearing of both the Senate and the Assembly to expedite the Photo Voter I.D. Bill
3. Make it clear to your legislators that you want to have Photo Voter I.D. in place by April 5th, 2011
4. Explain that other election reforms need to be proposed and passed as soon as possible, but it is important to implement Photo I.D. NOW!!!
   

I also caught a bit about this on Mark Belling today. He mentioned there will be public hearings on the measure next week. According to Belling, Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald (608) 266-2540, Rep.Fitzgerald@legis.wisconsin.gov is in favor of expanding this bill beyond just Photo Voter I.D. The President of the Senate's position on expanding the scope of the bill wasn't known, but you could urge him to include banning same day registration and 3rd party registration. Every vote should count...but only once! Become a POLL WATCHER

Last April, I became acquainted with some local women* who launched We're Watching Wisconsin Elections. They created this group to help fight voter fraud in our state.

They are following legislation that affects voting and voter fraud and are also involved with educating volunteer Poll Workers and Election Observers.

While it is too late to become a Poll Worker for this election cycle, you may still become an Election Observer this November. (Deadline for the 2011/2012 Poll Worker registration is this November 30th.)

The group, We're Watching Wisconsin Elections already held a series of poll watching education sessions, but you can still take part in this important effort. They are holding a new series of training classes across the state, with 2 in our area on Oct. 18th at the West Allis Library at 6:30pm and on Oct 19th at the Waukesha Republican Headquarters on Pearl and HWY 164 at 6:30pm. (I am glad they are doing this since I was out of town for the previous ones.) Other dates and locations are listed here.

Election Observers can volunteer to watch at the actual Poll on Election Day, at the Poll AFTER the poll closes, and at your City Hall absentee ballot counting place. Since absentee voting just started, volunteers are already watching at nursing homes and City Clerk's Offices.

The Election Observer Sign-Up page states: "Election observers are integral to restoring integrity to Wisconsin elections. Your participation in the statewide election observer program will help to ensure that our elections are honest and without fraud. Please sign up below to be a part of the program. We will be providing training seminars throughout the state leading up to the elections. Once you are signed-up you will be contacted as to the training seminar in your area. If you care about fair, honest elections, do sign up. Without a photo voter ID law in Wisconsin, this is one of the few tools we have to curtail voter fraud.

GATEWAY TO VOTER FRAUD

To vote in Wisconsin, all voters are required to be registered. Once a voter registration has been processed, that registration is recorded on the Wisconsin Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS). The registration is then deemed “legal” and “active.”

An eligible voter must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old, and a resident of Wisconsin and reside in an election district for 10 days prior to an election with no intent to move.

To be eligible, a voter must not be a felon, judged incompetent, have a bet or wager on the election, or be a resident for less than 10 days except in the case of a Presidential election.

In Wisconsin, the opportunity to register comes in myriad ways throughout the year:

· In Person – Open Registration – anytime during the year up until 20 days prior to the election, no proof of residence required

· In-person – Late Registration: after open registration closes and up to Election Day in the clerk’s office, proof of residence required. Voter’s name appears on supplemental poll list.

· By mail— Copies of proof of residence and I.D. must accompany registration form.

· During voter registration drives: conducted by Special Registration Deputies (Think ACORN) at libraries, fire stations, county fairs, campuses, or shopping malls.

· On Election Day at the polls. Wisconsin is one of only 11 states using this process. Same-day Voter Registration requires the voter to complete the application and provide “proof of residence” documentation. Ballots for same-day registrants are counted in that election but the actual registration is not verified until AFTER Election Day.

All the above options to register create confusion at the municipal clerk’s office and at polling places, for the voter as well as the staff. It adds a ton of paper work and explodes budgets for municipalities. The closer to Election Day the registration occurs, the fewer days the clerks have to verify that the registration information is correct and that the person is, indeed, qualified to vote. For example, in the 2008 election, 62,000 voters registered on Election Day ALONE in the City of Milwaukee. How many of those registrations were actually legitimate? But all of their votes were counted in the election.

Because Wisconsin does not require a photo voter ID, a name on a poll list can be voted by anyone claiming to be that registered voter. Once a registration is placed in the SVRS system, that registration can be voted basically forever or until the registrant dies. Even then, some names are not detected as needing removal so the registration lives on. Incorrect registrations that lead to a fraudulent vote deny the honest citizen his constitutional right to have his vote count.

Wisconsin Assembly Update: Working night & day - RTA, Global Warming, Voter Act on hold, Wood stays

It was a l-o-n-g day, or should I say night, for Wisconsin's Assembly. They worked through the night and still were at it this morning, I heard on Jay Weber this morning. Remarkably, the bottom line is the 3 worst bills, Voter Protection, Global Warming, and Creation of RTA, weren't voted on. (Keep those calls coming--see below.)

The Voter (Fraud) Protection Act, AB 895 / SB 640 did not come up for a vote as expected, nor did the Global Warming Bill, AB 649 / SB 450. It seems the Democrats were too busy duking it out all night to bring them to the floor. (Thank heavens!)

The creation of a RTA was dealt a severe blow by my Representative, Leah Vukmir, who I am dubbing, Vukmir the Valiant. Vukmir pretty much killed the bill with an amendment that would require a binding referendum for Milwaukee County voters to approve raising the sales tax by .05% before a RTA could be created. She was joined by Democrats David Cullen (Wauwatosa, West Milw.) and Tony Staskunas (West Allis) in that amendment. It passed 52/46. That was encouraging.

This also puts Senator Jim Sullivan, who represents pretty much the same area, in an opposite position of his Assembly counterparts.*

Speaking of the Senate, it seems the Senate Democrats don't think they have the votes to pass Global Warming and Voter Protection. Since Leader Russ Decker wants to spare his Senate Democrats from voting on something they can't pass, these might not come to the floor either. (Oh, I hope, I hope.) At least that is what Jay Weber and J.R. Ross indicated on Jay's radio program this morning.

If you remember, I wondered yesterday if that was the reason Jim Sullivan was now against the Voter Protection act.

The other hot topic was what to do with Jeff Wood, the Democrat with 3 DUIs. The Assembly voted to censure him, not expel. (It's all about protecting the majority--they might need him to vote on Thursday.) "Disgusting"

The Assembly worked almost 24 hours straight, thankfully, they have to call it quits for the day. Voter Protection, Global Warming (being pushed hard by the Potawatomis) and RTA, among others, could all come back on Thursday.

The Senate isn't in session today but is meeting later this afternoon at 3pm to set the schedule for Thursday, their last day? Of course, the Senate could go into extra innings, so to speak. But at least for now, it is not as dire as I had thought.

But don't count these bills dead yet. Both houses could pull it together and pass it all.

Wisconsin Legislature's last stand - Global Warming, Voter Fraud, RTA - Call now!

This week might mark THE MOST COSTLY week in the Wisconsin Legislature; the week our Representatives and Senators vote on several very controversial bills. Our Legislators are wrapping up their last week in Madison for this session, rapid firing 80-some bills to the floor a day.

Oh, if we could just send them home today!

It is difficult to say which are the worst bills of the lot, but the Global Warming, now called Clean Energy Jobs Bill AB 649 / SB 450 is coming to the Assembly this morning. It is thought there are enough votes to pass the Assembly. This bill is not only costly in terms of increased utility costs for all Wisconsinites, it also will cost our state in LOST JOBS. NO manufacturing company will want to locate or stay in a state that has higher utility costs than its neighbor.

From Brookfield's Representative Leah Vukmir: (My emphasis throughout) "The legislation has been widely panned by business groups representing a large sector of Wisconsin's economy and scholars alike. By going it alone to curb global warming, Wisconsin stands to lose tens of thousands of jobs and increase energy prices for consumers - from the gas at the pump for your car to the natural gas to heat your home."

From Brookfield's Representative Rich Zipperer: "If enacted, this bill will require power companies to invest approximately $15 billion in new equipment, and it will increase their fees by $700 million annually. All of those mandated costs will be passed on to energy users, increasing the cost of electricity for families and businesses. Independent studies have suggested such increases will drive over 40,000 jobs from our state as companies move manufacturing facilities to states with lower taxes and lower energy costs."

In the Senate, passage is not such a sure thing. If you live in Senator Jim Sullivan's District, give him a call: (866) 817-6061. I spoke to the aids in his office last week, and they said he was still reading through the amendments. Some of the Senators, like Senator John Lehman (608) 266-1832 Or (866) 615-7510 are in swing districts and also facing stiff reelection. Call them!

Even worse than the Global Warming Bill, is the Voter Protection Act AB 895 / SB 640. This one has been dubbed the Voter Fraud Protection Act by many.

Rep. Vukmir calls it the Vote Fraud Encouragement Act:

"[A few] weeks ago, a group of Democrats introduced legislation that will discard and rewrite nearly all election law in Wisconsin in favor of so-called reforms to encourage higher voter turnout and address alleged "voter intimidation".The legislation can only result in government-encouraged vote fraud."

"In a letter to legislators, Attorney General, JB Van Hollen said that the legislation would make fraud more likely", because for one," 'It populates the registration list with unregistered voters, increasing the potential for fraud, when our desire should be to have an accurate list that is neither over inclusive nor under inclusive.' "

"Additionally, a last-minute provision added by Sen. Lena Taylor would allow national, not-for-profit, community organizations [like ACORN] to access sensitive citizen information from state databases."

When I stopped in to see Senator Sullivan after last week's TEA Party, his aid Ashley informed me that Sullivan was OPPOSED to this bill. This came as quite a surprise since when I had called the week before, he still was undecided. This change makes me wonder if, like with the State Budget, Sullivan was given permission to vote no, because he is facing stiff competition from Vukmir? Or, are there not enough Senate votes to pass and so no one wants to be seen as supporting if they all aren't supporting? Or, is he truly against it? (I hope it is the latter.)

Anyway, the Voter Protection Act is THE MOST IMPORTANT of all the bills flying through Madison this week. If this passes, I believe it significantly reduces the chances of fair elections and encourages voter fraud.

There is also the RTA, which will add another .05% sales tax to Milwaukee County. Senator Sullivan favors creation of a regional RTA, which would include that .05% tax for Waukesha, Ozaukee, and Washington Counties too.

Other bills include: Ethanol Mandates, Expanding Hate Crimes, mandating Licensed Dietitians be the only ones who can give aid at a health food store, and my favorite, National Popular Vote.

All we can do at this point is call our Senators and Representatives and tell them to vote NO!
I know we are all weary with all the calling, but hopefully, it is the last week!

News from Rally against Vote Fraud at Milw. City Hall - Correction & Update

This morning someone informed me that there would be a noon rally today against Vote Fraud at Milwaukee's City Hall. (It was also posted on This Just In.)

Here is their report from that event: (My emphasis throughout)

"There were only about 25 people there but an African American man spoke out against Rep. Coggs, [Senator]Lena Taylor and other city government officials for being in favor of this bill. Rebecca Kleefisch also spoke (she used to be on WISN TV and is actually running for Lt. Governor ). One other guy spoke and said they were looking for someone from Lena Taylor’s district to start a recall petition against her. She is in charge of the election commission [CORRECTION: Taylor is NOT the Chairman of the Election Committee; It is Coggs who is Chairman of the Senate Labor, Elections and Urban Affairs Committee] and [Taylor] I believe is a sponsor of the bill."[She is.]

"[The flier above is] a copy of the literature they passed out and I spoke to two female retirees who said they are part of the organization and have been attending some of the hearings in Madison. One of the ladies told me they have never been involved in politics before but decided to get involved to see what they could do to stop voter fraud in WI. (This was even before the AB 895 bill.)"

VCYHomefront said this about SB-640 & AB-895: "Some have also dubbed this the ACORN Assistance Act due to a last minute amendment given by Senator Lena Taylor that would give a nationally focused non profit community organizing group access to the entire Dept. of Transportation database to help people register to vote. This database used to belong only to the State of Wisconsin, but now would be open to groups in the entire country."

This piece of legislation is a travesty and moves us in the wrong direction. We already have very liberal voter registration laws--what could be easier than registering at the polls? What Wisconsin really needs if a Photo Voter ID law.

All we can do at this point is call our Senators and Representatives and tell them to vote NO!

UPDATE: I met one of the members of We're Watching Wisconsin Elections today on the bus going to the Madison Tea Party. Turns out, we have met before. Small world.

After the Tea Party, I went into the Capitol to visit my reps. Jim Sullivan wasn't in, but I stated my opposition to the Voter Protection Act and Green Jobs Bill just the same. The aid told me Sullivan was NOT supporting SB 640! Hmmm, more on that later.

Call before 9:45am! State election law reform AB 895 automatically registers voters & hampers poll watchers

Bill AB 895 is whizzing through the State Legislature at an alarming speed, considering the negative impact to voters in our state. The bill is still in committee for another hour. They plan to vote on it at 9:45am, today, April 1st. (No, this is not an April Fools joke.) CALL COMMITTEE MEMBERS NOW!

This Election Overhaul bill will automatically register voters when they get their drivers licenses or register their cars. Another thing it does is prevent poll watchers from challenging a voter unless that poll watcher actually lives in the ward they are watching. There is also an online registration confirmation provision. These measures make voter fraud easier.

I asked Spencer Coggs aid how they would prevent legal aliens, who got drivers licenses or purchased a car, from being registered to vote. He said he didn't think they could get a license. (Oh, brother.)

Besides the potential for legal aliens, what about illegals? I personally witnessed an attempt of an illegal to get a drivers license and saw how the DMV worker pretty much just told him he needed a better copy (in other words, a better forgery) of his social security card. I don't think we want the DMV determining who gets put on the voter rolls!

The confirmation process of the auto registration in this bill seems like a whole lot of gobbledygook to me. How about we just get a photo Voter ID law and call it a day?

More on this later. It will probably pass committee and be on the Senate and Assembly floor before we know it. Argh.

UPDATE: Another ACORN falls from government grace: IRS severs ties with ACORN over scandal Sept. 23, 2009: "The IRS says it is severing ties with ACORN, the community activist group involved in a scandal after employees were caught on video giving advice to a couple posing as a prostitute and pimp"

Last week, ACORN turned in Florida workers on voter fraud charges, (My emphasis) "Armed with a tip from the grassroots group ACORN about its own workers, authorities on Wednesday began arresting 11 people suspected of falsifying hundreds of voter applications during a registration drive last year."

And now this was reported later on Friday, often the time news you don't want to create a stir with is released: Census Bureau severs ties with ACORN in 2010 count:

"The Census Bureau on Friday severed its ties with ACORN, a community organization that has been hit with Republican accusations of voter-registration fraud."

" 'We do not come to this decision lightly,' Census director Robert Groves wrote in a letter to ACORN, which was obtained by The Associated Press."

"In splitting with ACORN, Groves sought to tamp down GOP concerns and negative publicity that the partnership will taint the 2010 head count."

ACORN was also in the news last week when 2 ACORN workers were caught on hidden camera giving tax advice to 2 people posing as a pimp and prostitute on how to scam the system. You have to watch it to believe it. There was also the Child Prostitution video. The article says the 2 workers were fired from ACORN.

Monday I saw that there was yet another sex slave case that ACORN HOUSING workers approved of in New York. You can't make this stuff up! This case involved 3 ACORN employees. None of which seemed to bat an eye at their illegal enterprise or keeping the money they earned from the prostitution hidden in their backyards! Talk about creative bookkeeping.

Is ACORN falling from grace? Will they have to give back their $4 billion or so in stimulus money?

Senator Mike Johannes of Nebraska called for an amendment to block Federal funding of Acorn also on Monday.

For over a year, Conservatives and Republicans couldn't get any traction on the ACORN voter fraud front or ACORN at all.

So what is going on?
